There is always a need for qualified professionals in the field of health and nurses are no exception. Few undergraduate nursing programs offer specializations because they want to train highly adaptable and well-rounded professionals. The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston is the best ranked nursing program in Texas. The HSC offers several curricula, including a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, an accelerated bachelor of Science in Nursing, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing for Registered Nurses (RN). The Center for Health Sciences also offers master’s and doctoral degrees in nursing. Graduates of the School of Nursing have a wide variety of career options, including obstetrics and gynecology. The University of Texas at Austin, the Center for Health Sciences in San Antonio and the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston have also highly rated nursing programs.


Texas Woman University of Texas Woman is the highest ranking Texas nursing program outside the University of Texas system. This college offers not only face-to-face classes at three campuses located in Denton, Dallas and Houston, and the option of just weekend classes, but offers a fully online degree program as well. TWU offers several Master’s and Doctorate programs in a variety of different areas, including clinical nursing specialties. The Herrington School of Nursing at Baylor University Louise is also a ranked nursing school in Texas. The main campus is located in Waco but the nursing school is located in Dallas. Baylor offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing, but acceptance into nursing school is only possible after a significant number of courses are completed on the main campus. The university also offers postgraduate programs, including a Nurse Practitioner degree, an advanced Neonatal degree and has recently introduced a Nurse-Midwives degree. Nursing students learn all aspects of the field of nursing so they can choose any career, including nursing obstetrics / gynecology.
